Trips to the Pacific: Thailand
Located in the heart of the Pacific, Thailand is one of the most exotic and mysterious vacation destinations out there, and trips to Thailand are sure to be just that as well. This country is located in South East Asia, and its coasts border the Andaman Sea as well as the Gulf of Thailand. In the northwest, Myanmar – also known as Burma – borders Thailand; in the northeast, Laos borders the country; it is bordered by Cambodia om the southeast; in the south, it is bordered by Malaysia. It is well known for its delicious cuisine, its intriguing culture, its tropical, sunny climate, and its superb beaches. It is any wonder, then, that millions of holiday goers flock to Thailand from places all over the world, every single year?
In all, Thailand has seventy six provinces, but they are rather neatly divided into five cultural and geographical regions. In the north, there is Chiang Mai, which contains hill tribes, as well as the Golden Triangle. Isaan is located in the northeast and contains many Khmer ruins, as well as back country regions ripe for exploration. Beautiful, intriguing Bangkok is located in the Central region; historic Thailand can be found there as well. You can find beautiful beaches in the East region, which is also conveniently close to Bangkok. The South is home to literally miles of coastline, not to mention any number of different islands; Phuket can be found there, among others.
There are a number of beaches, islands, and parks which are definitely worth exploring as well. For instance, Ko Lipe is a little island which is, amazingly, located right in the middle of the Tarutao National Park. It is home to unspoiled reefs and gorgeous beaches. Krabi is the place to go if you are into water sports. If you want something quieter and more relaxing, you can check out Ko Lanta or Ko Pha Ngan, which is the home of the infamous Full Moon Party. As for parks, you have your choice, including Ko Phi Phi, which is a must see for anyone who loves backpacking and/or marine life.
